Chicago, May 1st , 2005 –
Health-conscious consumers are reaching for organic packaged foods
at an increasing rate, and there is a demand on health food
manufacturers to keep pace by creating new and exciting product
offerings. ZEN Organic Foods, based in British Columbia, Canada is
proud to introduce their new line of certified organic, vegan,
gluten free, Kosher food bars. ZEN Organic Foods will be making its
North American debut at the2005 All Things Organic Conference and
Trade Show in Chicago, Illinois April 30th to May 3rd.
“We wanted to create a line of food
bars that you can feel good about pulling out of your desk drawer or
backpack to fill the hunger gap, even if you are following an
organic, vegan, gluten free or Kosher diet.” said Allison Schroeder,
owner of ZEN Organic Foods. “Our bars provide a balance of complex
carbohydrates from fruit, complete vegan protein, multi source
dietary fiber and healthy fats from nuts and flax. Our recipes were
developed with delicious taste in mind, and the result is a line of
healthy food bars that you don’t have to be a health nut to enjoy
eating. Our flavors include Vanilla Almond Crunch, Chai Spice and
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. We even have a Veggie Tropical Twist
Bar that contains four servings of organic veggies and fruit in each
bar, but tastes like tangy pineapple and mango.”
According to the National Marketing Institute, sales of organic
packaged foods and beverages increased by 18% in the past year. In
comparison, the sales of natural foods and beverages increased by a
more modest four percent over the same period. While the energy bar
product category in general is well developed, there has still been
little selection for consumers who are looking for certified organic
food bars.
